Walk Description
A wonderful day out taking in a moderately challenging walk that provides outstanding views over Derwent Water and surrounding Lakeland fells. The ascent and descent are steep but on good paths with plenty of opportunity to take a breather and enjoy the magnificent views. For many people, including our 7 year old, the breathtaking views from Cat Bells deliver a first real taste of the rewards of hill walking. The walk is deservedly one of the most popular in the Lake District and parking near Cat Bells is very restricted. (Apart from a 28 day period in the height of summer when a nearby field car park is allowed to open.) So lengthen the day by taking a pleasurable return ferry from Keswick to Hawes End and start your walk at the Hawes End jetty.
