Walk Description
Tarn Hows is a beautiful place, you don’t need much time to complete a circuit of the tarn but do allow more time to enjoy it. Go early morning and you have the place to yourselves, all you can hear is birdsong and insects humming. A good path circles the tarn and provides easy walking in either direction from the nearby car park. The kids enjoyed exploring the shoreline and surrounding woodland. An alternate start point is the Tom Gill car park. This provides for a pleasant walk up through the woods beside the stream and the waterfall to join the main circuit around the tarn. (Younger children may prefer to avoid the climb through the woods and just to do the circuit of the tarn.)
